Use the morning-evening range from October 5 to 7

The forecast gives 12–24°C and cloud on the 5th, sunny 13–24°C on the 6th and sunny 15–27°C on the 7th. Use the first two hours after sunrise in an urban park, with a removable warm layer; hydrate, use sun protection and shorten exposure as midday warms.

Comfortable weather does not guarantee more birds. Wind, precipitation, habitat, crowds and observer effort still shape autumn records. Do not expand a walk or chase an online report merely because the list is short.

Keep a weather alternative for October 8 to 11

Conditions turn mostly cloudy to overcast from the 8th to 10th, with light rain forecast on the 11th. Before a northern-Qinling or waterside trip, set the final turnaround point and return time. End early when cloud lowers, roads wet, visibility falls or staff advise a change.

Before rain, avoid gorges, river flats, reservoir shores, unstable slopes and low-signal side tracks. An urban backup should have public transport, fixed paths and clear exits. Rain gear, grippy footwear, spare socks and a power bank matter more than extra camera equipment.

Record weather bias without misreporting birds

Note start and end time, cloud, temperature, wind, rain, effective effort and crowd level. Species totals under different weather are comparable only when effort, route and method are similar; one shorter list is not evidence of population decline.

Mark sound-only records and leave uncertain birds unresolved. Do not use playback to increase detection or live-share an exact position when birds briefly gather before rain. Safety and bird welfare always come first.
