What the official operation confirms

The notice says Panyu forestry authorities joined municipal forestry and gardens staff, wildlife officials, forest police, district police and Xiaoguwei Subdistrict in a mid-September operation around University City. Checks focused on migratory stopovers, wetlands, illegal hunting equipment and bird nets.

The notice does not list seized species, bird numbers or a visitor-searchable location. This article therefore covers general observation and reporting practice only. It does not turn an enforcement area into a birding hotspot or infer which migrants were present.

Protect safety and evidence first

Do not dismantle a net, cut lines, move birds or confront a suspected offender alone. Retreat to a safe public area and, without touching or approaching, note the time, setting, equipment and broad direction. If a bird is trapped, tell responders whether it is still struggling, suspended or exposed to immediate danger.

Send images, brief video and precise location directly to local forestry or police. Use only district- or park-level locality in public posts. Live-sharing an exact position may alert offenders, attract crowds, reveal patrol patterns and compromise evidence.

Birding during a protection operation

Remain on officially open roads, boardwalks and viewing areas. Never follow a flock, call or possible net into scrub, mudflat or management tracks. Keep away from patrol, evidence collection or net-removal work; do not livestream or seek deployment details.

A checklist should include date, time, weather, effort and park-level locality. Leave uncertain species unidentified. Retreat when a flock repeatedly looks up, stops feeding or moves away, and never use playback, food or drones.
